Lorena F. García
Lorena F. García is the principal of the Las Cruces Catholic Schools. She has been an educator and administrator in New Mexico for 23 years. Ms. García began her teaching career with the Clovis Municipal Schools as a teacher in the Bilingual Early Childhood Program where she taught for 3 years. She was a technology teacher for the Las Cruces Public Schools for 9 years where she taught at Lynn Middle School, Sierra Middle School and Zia Middle School. As an administrator she worked for the Gadsden Independent School District and the Vaughn Municipal Schools in the capacity of assistant principal and principal. The last five years she has been the superintendent for the Vaughn Municipal Schools in Vaughn, New Mexico. Vaughn is her hometown where she returned six years ago to give back to her community.
Ms. García holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Education from Eastern New Mexico University and a Master’s degree in Educational Management and Development from New Mexico State University.
She has three children and a grandson. Her youngest daughter and son attend New Mexico State University and her oldest daughter and grandson live in Arizona, where she is also an educator.
Ms. García is excited to be working with the Las Cruces Catholic Schools as the spiritual/instructional leader for the 2010-2011 school year. She feels this is a great opportunity to educate the whole child, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
